came in doubting themselves.
My job was never to get them a job.
It was to make them impossible to ignore.

My coaching superpower: helping designers see that balancing business goals with user needs isn’t a compromise — it’s the argument that gets you a seat at the table. From first portfolio to leadership track, I meet every person where they are.

What mentees are saying.

Christopher’s “kill the junior in your head” mindset was the powerful galvanizing force I needed when I felt stuck and ambiguous about my direction as a designer on an extended job hunt.

Chris possesses an infectious energy that permeates into your being, eventually manifesting as an inner professional confidence. He’ll motivate you toward ambitious positioning while maintaining the groundedness to have a casual conversation about Star Wars: Jedi Survivor boss fighting techniques in the same breath. That combination of high energy and approachability created a momentum that is invaluable.

A particular highlight was when I brought him evidence that I might be operating at a higher level than either of us initially thought. Rather than dismissing my analysis or doubling down on an original assessment, he engaged with my documentation and eventually came around, then becoming an advocate for this new positioning. That willingness to let the coaching relationship run two ways solidifies his reputation as a bona fide capital-C Coach.

But perhaps the most valuable thing Christopher taught me wasn’t resume formatting — it was how to advocate for myself with confidence and push back when something didn’t feel right. Learning to hold my ground in our sessions was exactly the practice I needed to do the same when in front of a hiring manager, and the naturalness that came with it ultimately landed me my role at ITRG.

If there is a definition of a perfect mentor, Chris is more than that.

He was extremely committed to providing guidance and sharing his vast knowledge of UX while honing my design skills. His considerate feedback built up not only my knowledge but also my confidence as a Product Designer.

During our sessions together, he didn’t mind spending additional time with me making sure that I always felt supported and encouraged. Outside of our sessions, I could always reach out to him with more questions.

While he is a hard-working, driven person with an immaculate work ethic, he sets similar standards for his mentees which makes working with him only more rewarding. He gets you unstuck and motivated again when you hit any roadblock, while sprinkling it with a great sense of humor. Anyone having him as a mentor or colleague on their team will be so lucky!

Chris is an exceptional design leader who has significantly influenced my development as a designer.

His extensive knowledge and insightful feedback consistently provide clear directions for improvement. His skill in devising creative strategies, along with his genuine interest in supporting my growth, has been instrumental.

He is also incredibly fun and enjoyable to talk to. He has a vibrant personality and a knack for keeping conversations lively and inspiring, no matter the topic.

Chris and I connected on ADPList, and since that time I have learned so much from his expert insights and approach to design, storytelling, communication, and interview process.

Like many people will tell you, Chris is a super positive person, fun to talk to and all-around amazing! Anyone that has a chance to speak with him will have a great time and learn so much.

Chris was a great mentor who inspired me to approach each problem in a creative and thoughtful way. He was a key player in my UX education, teaching me to look beneath the surface of each problem I encountered.

Chats with Chris consistently led to my own growth, and an improvement of my ability to see the bigger picture. Chris rallies teams and brings together different personalities to understand the intricacies of customer problems and inform and develop meaningful solutions.

He closely worked with product and client-facing departments on many projects at Intelex, leading to thoughtful discovery of client problems and effective user-centric delivery of products. I would highly recommend Chris on any team as someone who can lead others, bridge the gap between departments, and work with diverse personalities.
